Whether you find yourself on a train, standing in line, or enduring a dull meeting, Hexpress provides a creative outlet. To experience enhanced sound quality and avoid causing disturbance to those around you, it is recommended to use wired headphones instead of Bluetooth.

The application boasts a user-friendly interface that is simple, colorful, and clean, deliberately crafted to be accessible even to young children. Each instrument within Hexpress may behave uniquely, but generally, notes are produced by tapping shapes on the screen, while sound is manipulated by tilting the phone in various directions.

Many of the instruments in Hexpress feature a distinctive honeycomb note arrangement known as the "harmonic table note layout." This layout, similar to the Tonnetz layout but rotated, presents several advantages over the traditional piano layout:

• Effective use of the device screen with a range of 3 or more octaves
• Uniform intervals across the entire range for easy transposition of songs
• Tightly grouped chord shapes that can be executed with a single finger swipe
• Alternating notes between fingers of both hands in scale and melody runs for speed and precision
• Accessibility to large intervals as comfortably as smaller ones

In addition to the honeycomb layout, Hexpress also includes instruments with conventional fretboards and a drum set for finger-drumming enthusiasts. The app encompasses a looper feature for recording repeating sections, accessible from the main screen and compatible with nearly all instruments. However, saving or exporting loops directly from the app is not supported.

Instrument configurations cannot be altered within the app itself. This intentional choice aims to foster an immersive learning experience and encourage creativity by embracing constraints and limitations. While feedback is welcomed for enhancing the sounds and visuals of current instruments, the developer does not foresee introducing settings or options for adjustment.

Hexpress remains an ongoing project with potential changes expected in its interface, sounds, and features. Notably, the app does not gather any user information and operates without internet access. Should users opt for microphone permission, it is used solely within one instrument for sample recording purposes.
